“Whatever You Focus On, You Get MORE Of, PERIOD”
I’m gonna get a little scientific for a bit, but stay with me, this is important. There’s a certain part of your brain called the reticular activating system, or RAS for short. Now, one of the functions of the RAS is to make you aware of certain things that are relevant and important to your life - like your job, your health, and your athletic pursuits.
How Does The RAS Know What Is Important?
One word - BELIEFS.
The definition of a belief is something that you feel certain about. For instance, “The sky is blue”, “I play better with my lucky socks on” and “I’m great with penalty shots” are all beliefs that you can feel more or less certain about.
If you’re having some challenges and you believe that your coach is a pain in the ass, then the RAS will make you aware of all the many ways that your coach actually IS a pain in the ass.
Let Me Break This Down For You…
If what you focus on, you get MORE of,
And…
You focus on what you already BELIEVE to be true,
Then…
If you change your beliefs, you will change what you experience in you life.
The real difference between the few hall of famers and the many bench warmers of the world is their BELIEFS. If you’re having challenges in your game, it’s important that you take action and work SMART, not hard.
Understand that if you have the right beliefs, and apply consistent action, everything that you want comes naturally.
